No other part of the world's work is of such supreme difficulty, delicacy and importance, as that of parents in the right upbringing of their children. The first obligation of the present - that of passing forward a generation better than ourselves - rests with parents. As ever child belongs to the Commonweal, so his bringing up is the concern of all. Yet parents, with the responsibility of the world's future resting upon them, are left to do their work, each father and mother alone, rarely getting so much as word of sympathy, counsel, or encouragement. All workers, whether of hand or brain, enjoy the help and profit of association; commonly, of co-operation. Thus the wisdom, the experience, the information of each is made profitable for all; enthusiasm is generated by the union of many for the advancement of a case, and every member is cheered by the sympathy of his fellow workers.

Have you ever yearned for deeper connections in your homeschool experience? Relationships that grow over the years and families being connected? A chance to learn and explore with friends and build something intentional that flourishes?

That is the heart of Thirsty Deer Homeschool Community. Run by a veteran homeschooling mama of six, the goal is meaningful community and support in a safe environment that points to Jesus.

Our academic pursuits focus on beauty subjects that are often overlooked in our busy schedules: Shakespeare, herbalism, poetry, handicrafts, folk songs, nature study and more. Intertwined with sports and lots of opportunities to get our bodies moving.

Thirsty Deer uses the Charlotte Mason methodology of education. Rich living books, narration, wide scope of subjects and the deep respect for the child as a born person and image bearer.

This homeschool community is for the whole family. Elementary and highschool, a celebration to honour graduates, parents connecting and opportunities for play and learning for young siblings. There are many opportunities for the whole families to fellowship and friendships to be nourished, including a family camp at year end.

We would love to have you join us here on our beautiful piece of creation along the Sturgeon River.
